What is First Act?

The First Act Program is a brand new touring initiative by the Springer Opera House that includes an immersive, highly participatory performance partnered with a child-caregiver class which introduces children and families to arts-based creative play through drama, music, movement, and art.

All of our Theatre for the Very Young titles partner with The Basics of the Chattahoochee Valley to teach and enforce social emotional learning such as conflict resolution, self soothing and using words to express emotion.

Performances are approximately 30 minutes but be sure to arrive early for pre-show activities with the cast.

Now Playing: Going on a Bear Hunt

We’ll need your help to find Papa Bear in our exciting and interactive performance of Going on a Bearhunt! This isn’t just any play either— this experience is active and immersive! By participating in this production, children ages 1-8 can learn how we use feeling tools to overcome obstacles!

The best part? This experience is completely free to all audience members!

Recently, our bear hunt has taken us to places like Open Door Community House, Victory Mission Baptist Church, Mildred Terry Public Library and North Columbus Public Library. Follow us on social media to see where Going on a Bear Hunt will be performing next!
