Columbus' Favorite Holiday Tradition, A Tuna Christmas is back at the Springer!

Since 2001, over 50,000 patrons have celebrated their holidays by watching two amazing actors portray 21 inhabitants of Tuna, Texas in a hilarious quick-change comedy sensation that has become a true cult favorite for Columbus audiences. 

The show carries you through the holiday adventures in the fictional small town of Tuna, Texas. The annual yard display contest has been plagued by a bandit known only as the Christmas Phantom. Socialite Vera Carp hopes to win for the fifteenth year in a row, but she has stiff competition from Didi Snavely, the owner of Didi's Used Weapons and the sassy Tastee Kreme waitresses Inita Goodwin and Helen Bedd. Meanwhile, Aunt Pearl Burrus and Dixie DeBerry ain't sayin' nothin'. Find out why people say, "It just isn't Christmas without A Tuna Christmas!" Springer producing artistic director Paul Pierce starred in A Tuna Christmas for seventeen seasons on the Springer stage and is the director of this season’s production.  Starring in the show are actors Casey Ross and Devin Altizer. 

A Tuna Christmas marks the 10th production for Chicago based actor, Casey Ross. Some of his most notable roles on the Springer stage were Beauty and the Beast (Lumiere), Avenue Q (Princeton), and The Producers (Leo Bloom).  A member of SAG-AFTRA, you can find him on the latest season of Fargo (FX) and hear his voice in national commercials for Nintendo Labo. 

Devin Altizer resides in Radford, Virginia and holds a B.A. in Musical Theatre from Emory & Henry College. His first appearance at the Springer was in the 2016 production of Sweeney Todd (Toby). He has also starred in the Springer’s 2017 national tour of Route 66, Newsies, and The Great Gatsby.

A Tuna Christmas performances are on December 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23 at 7:30 pm and 19 at 2:30 pm in the McClure Theatre at the Springer Opera House. Tickets are $40 for adults, $38 for seniors and public service workers, $35 for military, and $20 for students. Masks are required during the performance for all patrons ages 2 and older.
