Academy Student Season Auditions
To register for auditions, please visit springertheatreacademy.campbrainregistration.com.
This is the same registration site you used to register for Summer Academy. Follow the registration for 2021-22 Auditions.
Please read this carefully as it contains a lot of information.
Auditions are August 23, 24 and 25 from 5:30-9:00 each night in the Dot Theatre on 1st Ave. You only need to attend one of these dates.
Auditions are open to current Academy 4th-12th grade students only, based on the needs of this season's shows.
The schedule for each evening will be as follows:
6:00-6:30 pm registration and forms
6:30-8:00 pm audition stations
8:00-8:30 pm questions and wrap up.
We will open doors at 6:00 pm to start registration.
We will dismiss through the Dot lobby at 8:30.
9th-12th graders may also audition for SOHIP, the Springer's Improv Troupe that rehearses throughout the year and performs in the Spring. Auditions for SOHIP are on Aug 24 and 25. On those days, those auditioning for SOHIP can also audition for plays if they would like.
If high school students are interested in auditioning for SOHIP, students must sign up for a SOHIP audition AND the season audition for the date you choose. That means you will sign up for two auditions on the same day. Please look at Campbrain (the registration software), as this is pretty self-explanatory there before you contact us with questions.
Students do not need to prepare anything for auditions.
We will break students up into groups and cycle them through different stations for their audition. It will feel very much like an Academy day.
Students should wear their Academy uniform: An Academy shirt with clear nametag, comfortable pants/ long shorts, close toed tennis shoes, hair pinned back.
Please wear a mask.
Upon your arrival, we will ask you to fill out an audition form. On this form, you will be able to mark which shows you are interested in/ available for casting, tell us about any special skills you may have, and list any conflicts. Due to the very compressed nature of Springer rehearsal schedules, conflicts may prevent a student from being cast. The shows with youth roles and their rehearsal/performance dates are included below. Please double check your calendars for conflicts before agreeing to be available for casting in that particular show.
Audition slots are available on a first come, first-served basis. We will do our best to make sure that all students have a chance to audition, but if your child is interested, please sign up sooner than later. We may not be able to accommodate waitlisted students due to time constraints.
We will complete casting as quickly as we can and notify everyone who auditions, regardless of the outcome. Please make sure that voicemail boxes are set up and not full-- we will have hundreds of students to call and occasionally need to leave a message.
Attached to this email you will find a document with rehearsal and performance dates.
Finally, please be aware and remind your children that though we would love to cast them all, we never have enough roles for the number of students who audition. I wish it were different! Sometimes, students are cast/ not cast because of factors they cannot control such as their height, the color of their hair, or the highness/ lowness of their voice. Though we work very hard to include all students here at the Springer, being involved in a show is a little different than being in Academy. I encourage all students to do their absolute best in their audition and fail boldly! I would much rather have a student make a big, bold, 'incorrect' choice than someone who is not willing to make a memorable one.
The audition page is open and ready for registrations. Thank you for your support and for your great kiddos. We look forward to seeing them at auditions!
